The Indian Tourism sector ranks among the fastest-growing economic sectors in the country. The industry significantly impacts employment and drives regional development, while also creating a multiplier effect on the performance of related industries. By 2028, India's tourism and hospitality industry is projected to generate $50.9 Bn in Visitor Exports, a significant increase from $28.9 Bn in 2018. Additionally, Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) are anticipated to reach 30.5 Mn by 2028.
For the past 3 decades, FICCI Tourism has been working closely with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and with the Tourism Departments of various State Governments to promote Tourism and Investment in Tourism infrastructure to the states by undertaking various platforms, special initiatives as well as addressing key issues catalyzing policy change at the international and domestic level.
The tourism platforms cover specific areas of Tourism such as Inbound Tourism, Investment in Tourism Infrastructure, Domestic Tourism, Digital and Travel Technology, M.I.C.E., Wedding Tourism, Film Tourism, Golf Tourism, Cruise, etc. With every platform, a knowledge report forms the base on which the trends and actionable agenda is put forward to the Government.
FICCI has been championing the cause of Tourism over two decades. The FICCI Tourism Committee and includes leading stakeholders from the industry as committee members. The Committee focuses on key areas of tourism such as Travel & Technology, Ayurveda & Wellness, Domestic Tourism, Inbound tourism, Outbound Tourism, MICE & Business Travel, Hotels & Accommodation Units, Sustainable Tourism, Sports Tourism and Culture. The Committee has actively engaged with the Government at the Centre and State level on policy and fiscal issues for the growth of the industry.
FICCI has also organized a number of successful platforms for the promotion of Tourism and Investment in India such as, 13 editions of Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB), Incredible India Travel Bazaar in 2014 (Jointly organized by Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India and FICCI), 6 editions of The Odisha Travel Bazaar, 5 editions of The Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart, 6 editions of the National Tourism Investors Meet, Dubai Expo 2022, G20 Tourism Expo 2023, Wed in India Expo 2024, National Tourism Conference in Konark and various other strategic tourism platforms, both at domestic and international level.
