The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) since its inception has recognized the significance of the urban infrastructure and real estate in the country and has been spearheading the sectoral cause through its committee on Urban Development and Real Estate. The two interdependent sectors not only play a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country but also contribute significantly to the national GDP.
FICCI Urban Development and Real Estate Committee
The FICCI Committee on Urban Development and Real Estate Committee has consistently engaged with policymakers to foster a conducive environment for the growth and development of both the sectors. The committee meets 4 times every year to discuss important sectoral developments, policy matters and opportunities.
The committee has proposed several key recommendations to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. These recommendations are aimed at enhancing the inflow of foreign capital into urban infrastructure and real estate, reducing regulatory burden on the industry and fostering better coordination between the public and the private sector.
Impactful Industry Engagements
To push forward its efforts for the development of the urban infrastructure and real estate sector, FICCI organizes industry specific events and conferences, focussed on key sectoral subjects. The Real Estate Summit; Conference on Business-Friendly Cities; Smart Urban Innovation Awards; Real Estate Investment Summit to name a few are some of the key annual events organized by FICCI. These events provides a common platform to the government, industry and other stakeholders to share knowledge, exchange ideas and network.
Each summit features the release of an annual report, developed in collaboration with a Knowledge Partner. These reports highlight trends, emerging business models, and asset classes in real estate, alongside the perceptions of global investors towards Indian real estate. Notable past reports include:
